The DBT Center Training Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit branch of the DBT Center of Houston, recently formed to provide comprehensive training in evidence-based mental health treatments, reduce the shortage of mental health professionals in Texas, and address the lack of quality training opportunities for graduate students in mental health fields.

Our Mission:
To prepare masters and doctoral students, pre-doctoral interns, and post-doctoral fellows to function as professional mental healthcare providers capable of delivering ethical, comprehensive, and evidence-based treatment to high-risk populations. Our goal is to offer high-quality training in, and broadly disseminate, Dialectical Behavior Therapy via our students, interns, and post doctoral fellows, as well as through community outreach.

Community Access

The Training Institute will increase community access to low-cost, high-quality therapy via pro-bono therapy with our trainees and by hosting community trainings.

Community Outreach

The Training Director and trainees will engage in community outreach to help other professionals, such as teachers and police officers, implement skills to be more effective with those who have mental health struggles.

Community Safety

By increasing and disseminating DBT, we ultimately hope to reduce mental health hospitalizations, suicide, and violent crime in Houston.
