Kevin Delaney

Chairman of the Board

Kevin Delaney resides in Sugar Land, Texas, with his wife of 31 years, Kathy. Kevin and his wife have been actively engaged with supporting mental health education and related resources over the past several years. Kevin is dedicated to The DBT Center Training Institute’s goals and mission as it is a passion for him to be energetically involved in non-profit mental health services, an overlooked and underserved area needing much more support to deliver services to those in need.

Kevin is a retired senior executive of a NYSE publicly traded company who consistently delivered results over his 32-year professional career, including the last 2+ decades with leading manufacturers in the building products industry. As a Chief Legal Officer, he was a true generalist with experience in M&A, antitrust, international, securities, labor and employment, environmental, contracts, litigation, and risk management. Also, as Chief Human Resources Officer, he was directly involved with safety, leadership development, compensation, benefits, employee relations, and communications. Kevin most recently served as Senior Vice President – General Counsel and Secretary to the Board of Directors of Quanex Building Product Corporation, a $900M NYSE company. As an active advisor to the Board and CEO, he applied unique problem-solving skills, contributing to business strategy decisions, sound governance practices, and business plan execution. Also, he was the primary senior executive supporting the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and the Management Development and Compensation Committee. As a result, he is well versed in the obligations and duties of directors.

Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Austin College, Kevin went on to earn his Juris Doctor from Baylor University of Law.

Kevin’s Board and volunteer leadership experience includes the LifeHouse of Houston, where he was a Board Member for three years and held one-year appointments as Chair of the Personnel Committee, Vice President and Chair of Governance Committee and Secretary of the Executive Committee. Kevin is also active in the Houston area for the National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder organization and has been trained as a leader of the Family Connections course. Kevin recently served as Vice Chair of the NEABPD Board and was its Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. Kevin worked and was a speaker at the most recent Healing Hearts of Families conference. He has been a Chair and member of the Staff Parish Relations Committee of Christ Methodist Church in Sugar Land where he currently serves as Chair of the Board of Trustees.

 

Karyn Hall, Ph.D.

Secretary

Karyn Hall, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist, certified coach, certified PE therapist, certified DBT Therapist (Linehan Board of Certification) and certified as a clinical supervisor in RO DBT by Dr. Thomas Lynch. She is the second therapist in the United States to be certified as a clinical supervisor in RO DBT. She's also the owner/director of the Dialectical Behavior Therapies Center in Houston, Texas, a private practice offering services for individuals, families, and couples. Currently, Karyn enjoys supervision in DBT and RO DBT, online training, and consulting with teams. She loves learning and continually improving services for consumers.

For over thirty years Karyn has worked with both adults and adolescents suffering from complex disorders such as personality disorders, chronic depression, chronic anxiety, and eating disorders. She has also served as a supervisor/consultant for therapists of various disciplines, nationally and internationally. She blogs for Psychology Today and is the author of Mindfulness Exercises for DBT Therapists, SAVVY, and The Emotionally Sensitive Person. She is the co-author of The Power of Validation and The Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy Workbook for Eating Disorders. She has published research on understanding emotional sensitivity and the use of virtual reality for teaching mindfulness.

 

Jorge E. Quirch, DDS

Treasurer

Dr. Jorge E. Quirch is a Cuban native who came to the United States at the young age of just 3 years old. He attributes his drive and passion for helping those around him to his humble beginnings and the example set by his father, who practiced as a doctor in Cuba and later in the United States. His ability to overcome the hurdles he faced as he assimilated to life in the United States aided in his successes, both personally and professionally. Dr. Quirch is a devoted General Dentist, who just celebrated retirement after 30 years of practicing and serving his patients. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1986, who then went on to attend and graduate from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch in 1992. Dr. Quirch began and built his career at DDS Associates. He has spent much of his career using his professional knowledge and skillset to serve the general public. In 2016, he was appointed to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners by Governor Greg Abbott and was later voted Secretary of the Board in 2017. Prior to this, Dr. Quirch has served on the boards for the University Area Rotary Club and the Executive Association of Houston. In his free time, Dr. Quirch enjoys spending time with his wife in the beauty of Colorado. He is an avid hunter, golfer, and fly-fisherman. He is blessed with two daughters and two granddaughters and cherishes time spent with his family.
